Biography

Dr. Amir Salarpour is currently a PostDoctoral Researcher at Clemson University (USA), focusing on Computer Vision and Signal Processing.

Previously, as an Assistant Professor at Sirjan University of Technology, he was my direct supervisor for two years (Feb 2019 – Feb 2021). During this intense collaboration, I served as his Undergraduate Thesis Student, Research Assistant (RA), and Teaching Assistant (TA).

Under his mentorship, I achieved a perfect score of 20/20 on my thesis titled "Large-scale Semantic Point Cloud Segmentation" and honed my skills in implementing complex Deep Learning algorithms entirely from scratch, prioritizing mathematical mastery over pre-built libraries.

"Ms. Amini's technical abilities and mastery of fundamental concepts were evident... Unlike many students who rely solely on pre-built libraries, Ms. Amini insisted on mastering the underlying mathematics. She implemented complex machine learning algorithms, such as Logistic Regression and Neural Networks, entirely from scratch."

Key Collaborations & Technical Achievements

  • B.Sc. Thesis (Score: 20/20): Conducted research titled "Large-scale Semantic Point Cloud Segmentation with Superpoint Graphs" under his supervision.
  • Research Assistant (Point Cloud Processing):
    • Focused on unstructured and unordered 3D data analysis using Kernel Correlation.
    • Implemented and benchmarked state-of-the-art architectures like PointNet and DGCNN on ModelNet40 datasets using PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Teaching Assistant (C/C++ Mastery):
    • Instructed "Basics of Programming" and "Advanced Programming" courses for two years.
    • Taught complex concepts including Memory Management (Pointers) and Clean Code practices.
